Intel MAC/CS3 - can't get the raster to work at all!!!

I've read all of the posts in the forum on this, but none of them apply to my problem. I have a late 2006 Intel MacBook Pro - running CS3 currently - and I can't get the raster effects to work at all. THEN - I embeded the image I was trying to raster... crash. crash again. crash again...again...again... crashes over and over. Anyone else have this problem? any fixes? Will that code fix by "Simon" work? I'm too scared to try it and then have it do worse. I've been trying to finish a design that I'm working on right now, but this effect is the absolute KEY!

P.S. I'm still ecstatic about the fact that you made a CS3 version! For a long time, I was contemplating buying an old iMac just to use this tool!!!

Your image is too big, I think. when your image is 800x 600px then your raster contains almoust 1/2 million symbols. I had the same problem in the beginning

the same thing at my intel / imac.

i tryed everything. sometimes the script produce only 1 dot, but almost it hapens nothing.

i also tryed different images in different size. no result. it seems that the plugin isn't going well. sometimes he just don't load. so i have to restart illustrator cs3.

maybe we shoult wait to an other update.

Could you please post crash reports / example files / error messages in the console, etc?

Did you check out the post about heap space?

Also related, please read the news.

Ok, today I finally found the source of this memory problem. It was related to caching of Java object wrappers and circular references that did not allow wrapper objects to be garbage collected. Exptect an update soon.
