Scriptographer palette conflict
From:  Simone

Hi, i think i found a conflict between the Scriptographer window (and the relative tools on the tool palette) and some Ilustrator files.

Scriptographer has always worked fine, but when i open a bigger file than usual (around 7 MB) with gradients, blend modes and some effects like drops shadows applied to the vectors a very strange error occurs: randomly AI doesn't allow me to click anywhere on the canvas and plays the error alert sound everytime i click, but no error mesage is displayed (so i can't move shapes, or do anything with them) but i can still lick on the palette, the tools and the menu.

If i click anywhere on the palette, i.e. i open and close the Scriptographer or any other palette in the interface, illustrator starts working again as usual.
This happens randomly and apparently is due to the Scriptographer interface (i removed the plugin and everything seems to work ok) against only some kind of files.

Did anyone of you experience something similar?

Thank for you dedicated development,
Simone

Hi, I start to use this great plugin after read of it on Progetto Grafico 10 (http://www.aiap.it/libreria.php?ID=378) an italian graphic magazine.
I only have to say that I've the same problem of Simone, and this happens to me with every file I open with scriptographer activated...
for example I draw a square, I apply path offset (so appear a menubar showing the effect progress) and I can't click anywhere on the screen without earing the alert sound.
I've the same problem wit Illustrator CS1 (I currently use CS2).
I hope this can help.
Great job, anyway!

This is a known bug and I am working on it in order to release a new version ASAP. It's a problem introduced in the new GUI code of CS3 btw. It seems that invisible, inactive modal dialogs are able to steal focus after other modal dialogs have been displayed. Not sure yet how to work around this, but I hope to find a solution soon.

thank you for the reply.
In the meantime I suggest a solution: click on a palette (stroke, gradient, ecc) and then illustrator will work again.
