A new version 'Isect' that is more accurate in its curve fitting.
This uses intersection points rather than hits.
This will process a group of paths , a compound path or text outlines
as shown in the example file attached

see comment below for the script

Hi Everyone,

I've got Illustrator CS5 (for the occasion) and put the plugin "
ShapeContoursIsect" (downloaded on page 1 from "gareth williams") in the right place.

Can I have a great tutorial to have this effect please?
http://scriptographer.org/Gallery/Afternow/

1) put a text
2) put a line in the buttom
3) select the two things
4) select the script "isect" and clic on "play"

ERROR or bad grid...

I saw the different steps in this thread but nothing works correctly...

THANKS in advance for your feedback

Just try

1) a small circle
2) a big rectangle on it
3) run the script

>> it works

BUT

When I try

1) a text
2) a big rectangle on it
3) run the script

>> ERROR
compound path, group of closed paths or text converted to outlines
Need 2 items for processing - target item and clipping shape above it
Cant process this type of item PointText
The target should be a closed path, compound path, group of closed paths or text converted to outlines

Have you got a solution to a some lines on TEXT (not form), please? What should I do to the text?

Gareth,

Please, do you have the details of the SHAPE CONTOURS of this example?

I have the AI file but I cannot remember the parameters for the running of the script. I think I used 5 as the step... after that , just play.

remember that 'undo' works ... and you can then keep trying with the same shapes !

Thanks man, I now.

In fact, my problem is that the lines not fit together in bottom extremities of the typeface. Is there a way that it works?

Like this (in black):

In fact, I would like some lines in the bottom of the "L" for example.
Do you think it's possible for this typeface?

Thanks in advance for your feedback

For any edge there will always be black space as the script 'views' the shape from below.
The only thing I can think of quickly is to program the script so that on the first line that has no changes ( a straight line ) , the script instead puts a shaped line of half the height of the one above.
This would not work at the top of the shapes as easily and might give too soft an edge in most images.

A quick manual hack would be to ungroup the created contours, copy the last shaped line down onto the first straight line and then drag its bounds so that it is half the height.

Hope that helps
Gareth

OK, I'll try it asap and I'll tell you if it works.
Thank you so much for the help Gareth.
