gardener creates nice tendrils from a drawn path. assign one of the scriptographer-tools to the gardener script and select some objects in your document. then start drawing your shape. the selected objects will be used in a random order and size as the end objects of each created branch. make sure you tweak the script options by
a doubleclick on the assigned scriptographer-tool.

note:
you need to smooth the small branches manually. (if you zoom in close, you'll find them very edgy.) do this by selecting all the created branches, then go to the illustrator-menu > object > path > simplify.

Congratulations to the port, Pedro!
I wonder if the smoothing could not be done autmatically?

jürg: it can be done. the code is in there, but it's not that accurate as it is when you use the simplify command.
somehow, if i use pointstocurves in the code, the base of the branches are a little off the mainbranch if you zoom in close.

or is there another way to do the smoothing?
btw. it was the same in the old version of gardener.

Probably being a dumb ass and i am not much of a coder. I don't really understand your directions on how to use gardener. I was hoping you might be able to put up so even more obvious steps. I don't get the assigning tools etc. Please help as i love your use of the scriptographer and want to play with it myself. The bubbles works a treat. Next the gardener...

This is excellent! I have been back to this site many, many times patiently awaiting the update.

I am now officially uninstalling CS as it's no longer needed thanks to Pedros update.

Scriptographer and Gardener are the best! Thanks!

hmm... error on line 1...

if you open the script in a text editor, is there some code inside? if so, download the script again, but do not use "save target as" because it doesn't work that way on this site.

Question on the selecting objects to use with the gardener tool.
I watched the small vid, but it still won't work for me. After I've selected the objects to use, and then go to the tool bar to hit the button for the gardener tool, the selected objects de-select themselves, leaving me branches with nothing on the ends.
Any idea what is happening here?

Thanks

steve
