I am interested in a tool for illustrator that adds the following function to the pen tool:

Say you have drawn a free form curve with the pen tool. Now, when you draw another curve and hold shift, the line you draw will not come closer to the previous one than a certain (predefined) distance and will always go parallel with it. Upon shift release the tool behaves again like the normal pen tool.

This function is integrated in Inkscape and is called something like "hatching pen", to create a lot of evenly spaced / parallel lines for hatchings.

I would also donate for the development of that script ...
